If you aren't looking for it, you'll probably accidentally pass it! It's a little kiosk right in front of new leaf community market.
This is one of my favorite lunch spots in down town Santa Cruz. The gorditas are amazing! I always get the Gordita with potatoes and cheese. It sounds really simple but it's packed full of flavor. I'm not sure what kind of cheese it is but it's super good. It adds the perfect amount of saltiness while being fresh. They also have a delicious hot sauce that you can bring to the table, a green and a red one. -

You'll miss it if you don't look really good, it's a hut by the sidewalk, not an actual location. Great food, very flavorful, reasonable prices

Damn I don't give out 5 stars that often but this place deserves it. I found this gem on yelp even though I basically walk past it on my way home from work everyday. They are slightly pricey but the taste is great and they make your food right when you order it so it's hot and fresh
The cons:
I went at around 4.30 and they were out of gorditas they said all they had was big tacos so I asked for a taco with cactus but they said they ran outta cactus in the morning guess if you want the good stuff you gatta get there when it opens
The tacos start at 2 bucks and every topping is $0.5-$2 so my potato, chilli, beans and cheese taco ended up being 8.18 with tax
The pros:
Fast, helpful, and sweet service
Amazing taste almost makes it worth it to pay 8 dollars again for a taco lol
Fresh and hot food made with organic ingredients
I will definitely return for a cactus taco and a Gordita -

Before hitting the Boardwalk we came looking for some substance downtown. I think the mood for Mexican food we let Yelp be our guide and it led us here...well almost. We passed this place about three times looking for a store front until I decided to send out an SOS by calling and asking for directions. Waze wasn't doing it. It's small a kiosk in the middle of the sidewalk facing the info booth that looks like a little coffee and tea spot. Ooh it's so much more than that.
Everything is made to order and fresh. I customized my own taco with potato, beans, avocado and pico de gallo. the flavors complemented each other perfectly. Seating is limited and you might have to share it with a shoeless elderly man (he kicked them off before getting settled) reading the newspaper from cover to end. They should make seating just for those eating but that's my only complaint. -

We totally enjoyed the sidewalk cafe atmosphere under the trees sheltered from the sun. We had the triple taco with nopales, shredded chicken, and guacamole (spicy), a triple taco with scrambled eggs and nopales, and the enfrijolada plate. All was very tasty with fresh ingredients. The agua fresca drinks were very good too, naturally flavored fruit drinks. Look for a small kiosk closer to street. Very, very good meals.
